USAA CLAIMS · VANCOUVER WA + PORTLAND OR
TIK Construction works directly with USAA.
We handle USAA property claims for military service members, veterans, and their families across Clark County and the Portland metro area. USAA tends to be one of the faster carriers to approve claims when documentation is complete — and our documentation is built to USAA's standards from day one.
How TIK handles USAA claims
USAA's adjuster pool is generally faster than the industry average. Inside-adjuster claims often approve within 24–48 hours when documentation is complete. We submit our documentation package within the first 24 hours of arrival to take advantage of that speed.
USAA uses a combination of Xactimate and their own internal pricing tools. We write our scope in Xactimate format aligned with USAA's regional pricing, which their adjusters can review without re-pricing.
USAA members often have additional coverages bundled — equipment breakdown, identity theft, etc. Our documentation flags any potentially-related coverages so the member can evaluate the full claim picture, not just the core property damage.
USAA has a strong customer-service reputation and tends to handle claims with low friction when documentation is complete. We've found their adjusters to be reasonable on supplements when supported by line-item evidence.
What USAA typically covers
Coverage varies by policy and endorsements. The patterns below are typical for standard USAA homeowner policies; your policy may differ. We document the actual coverage during your claim.
- Sudden and accidental water damage: typically covered on standard USAA homeowner policies.
- Fire and smoke damage: core covered peril.
- Mold from a covered cause: covered up to policy mold limits (USAA's standard limits are often higher than competitors).
- Sewage backup: requires the water-backup endorsement, which USAA includes by default in many policy tiers.
- Storm damage: wind, hail, falling objects covered. Wildfire-driven evacuation costs may have additional coverage components.

USAA FAQs
Does USAA require me to use a specific contractor?
No. USAA does not require members to use a specific contractor. You have the right to choose any licensed, qualified contractor for restoration work. TIK is licensed in WA and OR, IICRC certified, and meets USAA's documentation standards.
Will USAA pay TIK directly?
Yes — direct billing is standard. We bill USAA for the approved scope, and you pay only your deductible. USAA's payment processing is generally faster than industry average.
How fast does USAA approve claims?
For documented straightforward water or fire damage, USAA often approves within 24–72 hours. We submit our documentation within the first 24 hours specifically to leverage that fast approval cycle.
Will USAA cover damage to my home if I'm deployed?
Yes — coverage continues during deployment. USAA's standard policies cover the property regardless of whether the member is at home, deployed, or temporarily relocated. We can also coordinate with a designated power-of-attorney contact during deployment if you've set one up.
