How TIK handles State Farm claims

State Farm uses Xactimate for scope and pricing on most property claims, and we write our scopes in the same Xactimate format the adjuster expects. That alignment is one of the reasons State Farm claims at TIK rarely require revisions.

State Farm typically assigns an inside adjuster (phone-based, faster) for smaller claims and a field adjuster for larger ones. We work with both. For inside-adjuster claims, our documentation package — photos, moisture readings, scope estimate — is usually sufficient for approval without an in-person inspection.

State Farm's State Farm Auto + Home discount means many of our customers carry both lines with State Farm. Bundled accounts often have specific coverage tiers we account for during the initial documentation. Tell us your account type when you call and we'll align documentation accordingly.

If State Farm pushes back on scope or pricing, we have the documentation backbone to support our work. We respond to their reservation letters with line-item evidence — daily moisture logs, equipment runtime, IICRC standard references — that typically resolves disputes without escalation.

What State Farm typically covers

Coverage varies by policy and endorsements. The patterns below are typical for standard State Farm homeowner policies; your policy may differ. We document the actual coverage during your claim.

  • Sudden and accidental water damage (burst pipes, appliance leaks): typically covered.
  • Fire and smoke damage: core covered peril on every State Farm homeowner policy.
  • Mold from a covered cause: typically covered up to policy mold limits (often $5,000–$10,000 unless you have a higher endorsement).
  • Sewage backup: requires the optional sewer-backup endorsement, which is common but not automatic.
  • Storm damage: wind, hail, fallen trees typically covered. Flood from groundwater requires separate flood insurance (NFIP or private).

State Farm FAQs

Does State Farm allow me to choose my own contractor?

Yes. State Farm has preferred-vendor programs (e.g., Premier Service Program) but you are not required to use a preferred vendor. You have the right to choose any qualified, licensed contractor for restoration work. TIK is licensed in WA and OR, IICRC certified, and meets State Farm's documentation standards.

Will State Farm pay TIK directly?

Yes — direct billing is standard practice. We bill State Farm for the approved scope of work, and you pay only your deductible. For claims involving a mortgage holder, the carrier sometimes issues a co-payee check; we handle the endorsement workflow with you.

How long does State Farm take to approve a claim?

For straightforward water or fire damage with complete documentation, State Farm typically approves within 1–3 business days for inside-adjuster claims and 5–10 days for field-adjuster claims. We submit documentation within 24 hours of arrival to start that clock as fast as possible.

What if State Farm doesn't approve everything we need to do?

If the adjuster's scope is short of what's actually needed, we submit a supplement with line-item evidence. State Farm reviews supplements regularly — we've found their adjusters to be reasonable when documentation supports the additional work. Most of our supplements are approved without escalation.
